The CAIA® designation is awarded by the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association. While not mandatory, candidates are strongly encouraged to have foundational knowledge of the financial service industry and have completed a college corporate finance course and an introduction to statistics course. Qualification requires: self-study curriculum materials and two in-person, proctored exams.
The ChFC® designation identifies individuals who have completed the mandatory examination, education, experience, and ethics requirements mandated by The American College of Financial Services. Candidates must have at least three years of full-time business experience within the five years preceding the awarding of the designation of a high school diploma or equivalent. ChFC® candidates must complete eight online self-study courses and pass a closed book, proctored final course exam. Finally, candidates have ongoing continuing education requirements which require 30 hours of continuing education every two years, Including one hour of ethics.
The CLU® designation is awarded to individuals who specialize in life insurance and estate planning. Qualification requires: three years of full-time business experience within the five years preceding the awarding of the designation; completion of four courses and one elective course or prerequisite designation and closed-book, proctored final course exams; and ongoing continuing education of at least 30 hours every two years, including one hour of ethics.
The WMCP® designation is awarded to individuals who specialize in goal-based planning, investment management, and constructing diversified, tax-efficient portfolios. Qualification requires: one year of relevant business experience within the five years preceding the date of award and a high school diploma or the equivalent; completion of three online self-study courses and closed-book, proctored final course exams; and ongoing continuing education of at least 30 hours every two years, including one hour of ethics.
